Cadbury's taste of Polish Chocolate
In the last 155 years, the Wedel brand (a great Polish brand) has become synonymous with great chocolate. The brand was born from the vision and passion to create the best confectionery. Karol Wedel the founder of the company was a pioneer in the area, his chocolate factory which opened in 1851 was the first of its type in Poland. The next generations of Wedel's Family advanced this art to create a brand which was close to the hearts of many Poles.
A few years ago Wedel became part of Cadbury's. The company invested heavily in changing packaging and creating new advertising campaigns in an effort to beat off competitors and sell more Wedel's chocolates. However, the original brand's history, the product itself and it's distinguished logo remained. The average Pole doesn't know that their favorite chocolate is now produced by Cadbury, but who cares if the taste is still the same. The Wedel brand, family owned/Cadbury owned remains a firm favourite in the hearts of many Poles.

Looks like we need to see and taste some of this Polish chocolate here in Ireland. Surely, these days, there's a ready-made market here. Will look out for the Wedel brand. Where can I get it?
You can get it in every Polish shop in Ireland. Worth a try;)
Thanks - but address pls for a GOOD Polish shop in South County Dublin (if possible in Dun Laoghaire / Bray area)? Can you give me a steer? And apart from this new-to-Ireland Wedel brand, you've now whetted my appetite for that 'authentic Polish shopping experience'! Something to challenge Cork's English Market, perhaps? we'll see!
Cadbury’s will always be my favourite -the cadbury’s brand is one which we’ve all grown up with, we’ve all had our favourite Cadbury’s advertisements, who could ever forget the Cadbury Caramel bunny. So much is our emotional attachment to the Cadbury brand that a campaign to bring back the WISPA has now successfully led to the re-launch of Ireland’s much loved bubbly chocolate treat and on the occasional Friday you can still hear someone mention “thank Crunchie it’s Friday”!
However for the latest advertisements, I’m stumped!!!As a non-marketeer could you explain something to me to do with branding???
I love the new ad with the gorilla playing the drums to Phil Collins, but where exactly is the branding factor in that ad?
Is it animals?music? Hairy men? Check it out for yourselves and see if you can spot any clues http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnzFRV1LwIo
This advertisement had us stumped as well... however, it didn't stop us logging on to youtube to watch it over and over, talking about it over lunch and telling all our friends about it. Perhaps this awareness of their campaign was, in itself, the aim for Cadbury. The cadbury's website www.aglassandahalffullproductions.com urges us to watch the advertisement again for a minute and a half full of joy -perhaps indeed as some other bloggers/youtubers suggest the advertisement aims to "make you smile the same way the chocolate does"!
The brand Wedel was set up by a German in the nineteenth century. Poland did not even exist as a country at this point. Since Wedel's takeover by Cadbury quality has improved considerably. Unfortunately, Poland has no tradition of producing good quality chocolate. Most is dreadful.
Theres a polish shop in Dunlaoghaire near the keosk on main street!
